Harrods: Christmas Windows 2014

Christmas is the pinnacle of the retail-trading year and, therefore, the windows of the world’s leading department stores capture international attention – becoming global landmarks in themselves, from November through to December. Harrods appointed JUSTSO to conceptualise and produce their windows for the eighth consecutive time in 2014, following their success and award-winning displays in 2013. Only the best retail design agencies can provide the exceptional design service that JUSTSO did for Harrods.

Harrods brought Christmas magic to their windows transporting viewers to “The Land of Make Believe” through the use of oversized vintage toys including, snow globes, carousels, and puppets. A collection of animated miniature white mice acted as Santa’s helpers and could be found across the store, anchoring the concept. Harrods produced their first animated film featuring the white mice with Peter Pumpernickel, the smallest of the mice, acting as the hero character for Christmas 2014 at the famous department store.

This multifaceted project involved a high-level of complexity, due to the animatronics and production of many bespoke pieces in each window. A campaign of this magnitude and prominence required planning months ahead of the seasonal period. Once the creative for each window was decided, Harrods invited eleven of their most esteemed luxury brands including Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen, Jo Malone, and Thom Browne to showcase their product over the festive period.

Harrods Christmas windows can be seen from early November until Winter Sale, which starts on 26th December – we look forward to 2015!
